Making Monday Pretty: Strobing Trend
Posted by Hayley French on
For the last little while the biggest trend in makeup has been contouring, and to be honest, it's getting a little out of control. The latest trend, said to be the "new" contouring is called strobing. So to make sure you stay current on all things makeup related, here is the low down on strobing...
What is strobing exactly?
When you hear strobing you think of lights, which is essentially exactly what strobing is. Rather than contouring your face with both dark and light shades, strobing gently contours your face by highlighting all of the high points. Basically it is like highlighting on steroids for a super healthy, lit from within glow that makes your bone structure pop.
How do I get the look?
Firstly, this is not a glittery look, this is luminizing, so make sure whatever products you choose have very fine shimmer particles. You also want to make sure you start with a smooth base as intense highlighting can exacerbate fine lines and bumps. Start by mixing a small amount of luminizer with your foundation and then use an intense highlighter on any high points of the face - cheekbones, temples, brow bones, just above the eyebrow, inner corners of the eyes, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow and tip of the chin. Tip: to avoid looking oily don't apply highlight all over the forehead, just keep it to right above the brow bones on either side of your forehead.
What are some of the best products?
Our favourite creams to add to foundation are the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors and the new Sephora Radiant Luminizing Drops. Our favourite highlighters are the NARS Multiple Sticks, Benefit's Watt's Up, Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar Bronze & Glow and for megawatt shine you can't beat theBalm's Mary Lou Manizer.
Have a beautiful Monday everyone!
